MESQUITE FINE ARTS CENTER

The initial concept centered on creating a “Still Life” of separate buildings to form a center, incorporating and existing rock structure created during the YPA Program without over shadowing it. To achieve this, the various parts of the program; gallery, classrooms, lobby, and artist studios were broken into separate smaller scale buildings.

Reliance on the agricultural vernacular and materials from the earth ground this facility in its place, time, and history-an expression of a “moment” of Mesquite history with a twist of the contemporary.
