Writers Workshop
2019 | UNLV, Las Vegas, NV
Confidence in writing can help students think more critically and articulate ideas more clearly, making them more capable designers. Eric addresses the challenge of finding innovative ways to bring writing into an already full design curriculum through the orchestration of a weekend long writing workshop. On the premise that students engage more actively when they are passionate and interested in a given topic, the workshop honed critical thinking and writing skills through the exploration of local topics in architecture. Led by leading architectural critic Mimi Zeiger, the seminar developed a set of writing tools and skills, spawned a lively debate over the future of design in the city—skills were deployed through the examination of a proposed museum project.
