LYNN BENNETT EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION CENTER

2004 | Las Vegas, NV

Nestled within the grounds of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, the Lynn Bennett Early Childhood Education Center embraces and reflects its surrounding context, becoming a “campus within a campus”. Each of the school’s buildings looks onto a central park, allowing natural light to illuminate the interior spaces and connecting, both visually and physically, to nature.

The idea of home and the comfort, intimacy of space, and sense of security associated with it, drove the scale and design of both the indoor and outdoor learning spaces. Classrooms are cozy and comfortable rather than institutional, a safe space to learn and grow. The private gardens serve as the children’s own personal secure front yard, their teachers watching over them playing with their friends on their own playground.
