[the house of] earth+aether

Home is one’s grounding to the earth. The tangible form that establishes a connection to a specific place. While times have challenged the financial viability of the structure, the emotional power [draw] of ‘home’ [the idea of home] cannot be denied. This project grounds itself to [the earth of the] site while making palpable the idea expressed by Einstein in his search for relativity: the space between objects is not empty, but rather an aether with its own set of physical properties.

This home is not seen as a singular mass, but rather a synthesis of solids and voids. Each possesses their own experiential place, connecting the home physically to the site while visually referencing the mountains and the city in the space between the objects, capturing the qualities of the aether to become part of the project’s materiality.
